Wembley House
The concept focuses on place, both built and natural, and the desire to be sympathetic to the streetscape and its scale. A very conscious decision was made of avoiding 'upside down' living in favour of seamless connection to the ground plane.
The plan is divided into public and private with the front living area a place for family and friends gather around a fire to interact with each other and the environment outside.
The rear provides a more closeted and protected experience. The elongated plan provides north light to all living areas and bedrooms.
Use of highly insulated wall and roof panels, strategic planning of spaces which can be used at various times of the year and soft landscaping including bodies of water assist to reduce heat island effect around the home and help regulate internal comfort. Photovoltaic panels (and provision for future battery storage) assists in reducing the homes reliance on the grid.
